Die casting aluminum is often used as spheroidizing agent of nodular cast iron, magnesium is the obstacle of graphitization, which results in white structure in the whole process of electric welding. If the cooling rate is too fast during welding, austenite in the heat affected zone will change into martensite form hardened structure, which is more difficult to process after welding. Because of its excellent compressive strength plastic deformation, it is easy to cause cracks, but its welding quality is higher than that of steel castings. So how to weld?
Electrode arc welding
During the cold welding of nodular cast iron, EZNiFe-1 (Z408), eznifecu (Z508) other welding rods are mainly used for welding repair of non machined surfaces, the process is the same as that of gray cast iron.
Gas welding
For the gas welding of nodular cast iron, rzcq welding wire is used, such as the nodular cast iron welding wire containing magnesium. The composition of welding wire is c3.5-4.0%; si3.5-3.9%; mn0.5-0.8%; s ≤ 0.03%; P ≤ 0.10%; mg0.035-0.06%; y0.03-0.04%. Neutral flame weak carbonization flame shall be used for slow cooling after welding.
